Understanding IP Address and subnetting concepts is a fundamental competency for vocational high school students in the field of information technology and computer networking. However, these topics are often perceived as difficult due to their abstract nature and logical complexity. This Community Service activity aimed to improve students’ understanding of IP Address and subnetting through the implementation of a practice-based learning approach at SMK Bina Cipta Palembang. The activity was conducted through several stages, including partner needs analysis, material preparation, interactive learning sessions combined with hands-on practice, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments. The participants consisted of 27 students from the Software Engineering program. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 68.15 in the pre-test to 90.37 in the post-test. In addition to the increase in average scores, the post-test results demonstrated a more even distribution of high scores among students. These findings indicate that practice-based learning is effective in helping students understand IP Address and subnetting concepts in a more concrete and applicable manner. This activity is expected to contribute to improving the quality of computer networking education in vocational schools and to support the development of students’ competencies in accordance with the needs of the information technology industry.
