Abstract

Digital transformation requires students to develop digital literacy that extends beyond technology use to include the ability to understand and utilize data as a basis for decision-making. However, high school students understanding of the application of data analysis in real-life contexts remains limited. This community service activity aimed to introduce data analysis as part of strengthening students’ digital literacy through an Information Systems-Based Go to School Program at Shailendra Senior High School, Palembang. The activity employed a participatory educational approach through material delivery, case studies, interactive discussions, simple simulations, and question-and-answer sessions. A sports field rental management case study was used to introduce the relationship between transaction data, scheduling, facility usage patterns, and decision-making. The activity was evaluated using a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, documentation, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The results showed active participant engagement throughout the learning process and an initial understanding of the relationship between data, information, Information Systems, and decision-making. The contextual case study helped participants understand the application of data analysis more concretely, including the identification of peak hours, idle time, and scheduling management. This activity contributes to strengthening students’ digital literacy and broadening their understanding of Information Systems and the importance of data-driven thinking.
